Upon reaching the surface and seeing no danger you start to have a unconfortable feeling about your body that becomes worse and worse until you become so ill and disoriented you wind up beached somewhere. just a theory and quite possible the result of a sleep deprived mind. Im on night shift again....

A tone? Sure it wasn't a fog horn or buoy of some sort? Whales I've heard exhale at the surface and it sounds like a bunch of air being blown out (which is what it is)... their songs are heard only underwater I believe... maybe the whale had a cold or something. Interesting....

Im positive it wasnt a fog horn.It sounded nothing like one and there werent any boats that i could see and it sounded nothing like a boat. It was a whale i am positive almost because i heard the echo and it was very consistant unlike a boat..because it didnt fade or get louder. I dont know if boats use their horn ever 15 seconds either.
