Folk Melodic Death Metal
Eluveitie is awesome, and Slania is definitely one of my top albums of all time. I love the contrast between all the melodic folk instruments and the brutal guitar, drums, and vocals. Chrigel is extremely awesome and talented as a vocalist and multi instrumentalist.

...dance, and songs are the heart of this very colorful music. The blending of native Sahelian, Hausa, Fulani, Bambara, and Songhai musical traditions results in a driving sound that will sound at least a bit familiar to fans of such Mali artists as Ali Farka Toure and Boubacar TraorĂŠ. There is a modernized version of these traditions, yet a traditional and typical character is maintained. Mamar Kassey builds their arid, hypnotic dance grooves with traditional acoustic folk instruments and call-and-response vocals, relying less upon rippling electric guitar leads, though there are a few. This expert juxtaposition of the old and the new suggests that Mamar Kassey is a band with a genuine vision, which makes this CD the most appealing, as well as being the most original. A must for lovers of African music.» (AMG review, edited)Download: Rapidshare, Hotfile, Megaupload, Przeklej i Inne Part...

...have a very broad sense of musical delight. I like classic rock, and classical music and I play some Jazz at school. However I play a lot of music from eastern europe and the middle east such as Klezmer, israeli, traditional romany, Turkish, persian, arabian, macedonian, greek, serbian, croatian, hungarian, romanian, balkan brass, bulgarian bitov, bulgarian wedding, Chalga, and albanian styles of music (mostly on clarinet, although I do play doumbek and duduk, which are folk instruments). Its fun stuff to play and listen to!

...in 1993.[4] An album of folk music was released under this name before JĤrvelĤ relocated and formed a new band Shaman.[5] The folk metal act Shaman was based on the folk music of Shamaani Duo.[1] Two albums were released in 1999 and 2001 before Shaman changed their name to Korpiklaani.[5] The change in name was accompanied by a change in the music. The traditional yoik vocals and the use of the Sĥmi language were dropped while the synthesizer was replaced with real folk instruments.[6] Jonne JĤrvelĤ credits his work with Finntroll as the catalyst for the shift in emphasis from folk to metal.[7] Their song lyrics often are related to alcohol and partying. According to Jonne JĤrvelĤ, Korpiklaani's music would be seen as "old people's music with heavy metal guitars"[8] in Finland. There has been some amount of collaboration between Korpiklaani andFinntroll, as Samu Ruotsalainen of...

I play accordion (and sometimes other folk instruments) in pirate themed folk/battle metal band Iron SeaWolf. I'm their latest addition and haven't played any shows with them yet but we'll be doing some festivals in the summer which should be fun. I'm also one half of comedy rock duo Lederhosen Toaster, but we haven't done anything for ages. I'm trying to revive this band though because it was great fun. I write all the music and we share the lyric writing. I play guitar and...

...voices are made for each other in a yin-yang meeting of Ronstandt's rich velvet alto and Harris' songbird-sweet soprano. "The Tucson Sessions" takes their collaborations to new heights. A collection of covers and originals tracing various paths of love and loss, the performances seem to have breathed in the desert where they were recorded. Arrangements airy as the space between desert and sky are grounded by gritty guitars, splashed with color from folk instruments and filled with glorious harmonies. Well known singer/songwriters are covered - Patty Griffin, Andy Prieboy, Rosanne Cash, Leonard Cohen, and Bruce Springsteen. Traditional presentations of Cohen's "Sisters of Mercy" and Springsteen's "Across the Border" take on new dimensions as sung by women. The album was extremely well-received and landed on many year-end top-ten lists. 01. Loving the Highway Man...

I just saw them at Heathenfest in Cleveland, and they played a song from the upcoming album. Couldn't tell you which one, but it sounded pretty similar to the rest. It was a good show, the mixing wasn't great and me and my ears were tired from too many opening bands (Belphegor :erk:), but they had a lot of energy and some pretty cool-looking folk instruments :)
